FAAC sliding gate automation systems provide smooth, reliable movement for easy and secure access.
These solutions are designed to deliver maximum comfort and safety, using advanced technology capable of meeting even the most demanding requirements.
Our systems can be installed on any type of sliding gate and integrate seamlessly into all settings — from private homes and apartment complexes to commercial and industrial facilities of any size.
To choose the right sliding gate automation system, two key factors must be considered: the weight of the gate leaf and the type of usage.
Technology
Hydraulic and Electromechanical
These are the two core technologies behind today’s FAAC sliding gate automation systems.
Both are designed to meet specific needs and offer maximum flexibility across a wide range of applications.

Hydraulic
Hydraulic technology has always been a hallmark of FAAC excellence — and remains our flagship innovation. In fact, FAAC was the first to introduce it to the gate automation sector, back in 1965.
Applying hydraulics in this field requires the highest level of engineering and absolute precision during assembly.
This expertise allows us to offer all the advantages of hydraulic systems, which deliver outstanding performance across a wide range of applications.
- Exceptional durability: Service life up to 4 times longer than equivalent electromechanical systems.
- High power in a compact design: Delivers twice the force of electromechanical alternatives, while maintaining a compact footprint.
- Superior resistance:
Perfect for harsh and aggressive environments—dust, sand, salt—and for intensive use. - Maximum safety: Mechanical force adjustment via by-pass valves ensures safe and reliable operation.
- Easy maintenance: Simple to service and repair, with minimal effort required from technicians.
- Smooth, quiet movement:
Almost silent in operation, ensuring a more comfortable and refined user experience. -
Reversibility: Available with reversible operators—single or dual direction—for safe opening from either side.

Electromechanical
Electromechanical technology stands out for its simplicity. It was developed to meet the needs of those seeking automation systems with outstanding value for money.
In this solution, the components that transfer power from the motor to the gate leaf are mechanical, ensuring reliable and efficient operation.
-
Excellent value for money: High-performing automation systems at competitive prices—ideal for those looking for efficiency and affordability.
-
Simplicity of design: Essential, user-friendly design for easy operation and straightforward maintenance.
-
Proven know-how: Backed by decades of experience and field-tested expertise, guaranteeing reliable performance.
-
Extensive product range: Solutions tailored to various application needs, including integrated systems and special configurations.

AC Motors
FAAC's journey began with hydraulic systems powered by alternating current (230V AC) motors. In these motors, the flow of current generates a rotating magnetic field within the stator, which drives the shaft and rotor.
In single-phase systems, a capacitor is connected between the stator windings to initiate rotation. These motors are equipped with integrated thermal protection that shuts off power in case of overload, ensuring maximum operational safety.
Despite technological advancements and the introduction of DC motors, AC motors remain widely used today—thanks to their proven reliability and consistent performance over time.

DC motors
DC motors consist of a rotor powered via a brush collector and a stator that generates a constant magnetic field.
While they lack built-in physical thermal protection, FAAC systems feature electronic thermal protection, ensuring safe and reliable operation at all times.
By adjusting the supply voltage and current, both motor speed and torque can be precisely controlled.
Key advantages of DC motors include: precise control of force and speed, smooth acceleration and deceleration ramps for enhanced comfort, high energy efficiency, backup battery support to maintain operation during power outages.
